I Deep Purple sono un gruppo rock britannico nato nell’aprile del 1968 a Hertford, Inghilterra. Insieme a gruppi come Led Zeppelin e Black Sabbath, sono considerati fra i principali pionieri del genere heavy metal. Hanno venduto più di 100 milioni di copie nel mondo senza contare le enormi vendite di bootleg, cioè il traffico di dischi illegale spesso registrati nei live del gruppo, sempre formidabili, e sono stati presenti sul “Guinness dei primati” come la band più rumorosa del mondo. “Machine Head” viene considerato uno degli album più influenti della storia della musica hard rock. “Highway Star” è il brano più famoso dei Deep Purple.
