“Take the Long Way Home” è la traccia numero 6 di “Breakfast in America”, sesto album del gruppo “Supertramp”. Uscito nel 1979, questa canzone è il terzo singolo estratto dall’album. I Supertramp sono un gruppo rock britannico nato nel 1970. La formazione originale era composta da Rick Davies(voce, pianoforte, armonica a bocca), Roger Hodgson(voce, chitarre, tastiere), Richard Palmer(voce, chitarra elettrica, chitarra folk, balalaika) e Robert Millar(percussioni, armonica a bocca). Hodgson abbandona il gruppo al termine del 1982. L’album “Breakfast in America” ha raggiunto la prima posizione nella “Billboard 200” per sei settimane ed è stato quello di maggior successo nella carriera dei Supertramp, con oltre 4 milioni di copie vendute negli Stati Uniti d’America e 18 milioni di copie in tutto il mondo. Il singolo “Take the Long Way Home” arriva in prima posizione nel Regno Unito, in quarta in Canada ed in decima nella “Billboard Hot 100”.
