“Whatever” è un singolo del gruppo “Oasis” uscito nel 1994. Fino al 2010 si è trattato dell’unico brano del gruppo a non essere mai stato pubblicato su un album. Compare nella raccolta “Time Flies… 1994–2009”. Gli Oasis sono stati un gruppo rock britannico formatosi a Manchester nel 1991 e attivo fino al 2009. Hanno venduto circa 70 milioni di dischi, di cui 18 nel solo 1996. Gli Oasis hanno piazzato 8 singoli al primo posto nel Regno Unito, 22 singoli consecutivi nella top 10 inglese e raccolto 15 NME Awards, 6 Brit Awards, 9 Q Awards e 4 MTV Europe Music Awards. L’ultima formazione degli Oasis era composta da Liam Gallagher(voce, chitarra), Noel Gallagher(chitarra, voce, pianoforte), Gem Archer(chitarra), Andy Bell(basso) e Chris Sharrock(batteria). Il gruppo ha cambiato nome dopo l’abbandono di Noel Gallagher. Noel Gallagher ha affermato di aver scritto il brano “Whatever” in dieci minuti, prendendo ispirazione dalle parole che, spesso, la madre Peggy diceva a lui e i suoi fratelli quando immaginavano quale sarebbe stato il loro futuro: “you’re free to be whatever”.
