“Light My Fire” è la traccia numero 6 di “The Doors”, album d’esordio del gruppo “The Doors”. Uscito nel 1967, questa canzone è il secondo singolo estratto dall’album. I Doors sono stati un gruppo musicale rock statunitense, fondato nel 1965 da Jim Morrison(cantante), Ray Manzarek(tastierista), Robby Krieger(chitarrista) e John Densmore(batterista), e scioltosi definitivamente dopo otto anni di carriera effettiva nel 1973, due anni dopo la morte di Jim Morrison(avvenuta a Parigi il 3 luglio del 1971). Molti dei loro brani sono considerati dei classici e sono stati reinterpretati da numerosi artisti delle generazioni successive. La rivista “Rolling Stone” ha inserito “The Doors” al 42esimo posto della sua lista dei 500 migliori album. “Light My Fire” è uno dei più lampanti esempi di psychedelic rock, nonché uno dei primi esempi di jazz fusion, con un lungo, ed apparentemente estemporaneo assolo strumentale(nella versione dell’album) ed alcune influenze orientali. La canzone è stata posizionata alla posizione 35 della classifica delle “500 migliori canzoni” secondo la rivista “Rolling Stone”.
