“Black Dog” è la traccia numero 1 di “Led Zeppelin IV”, quarto album del gruppo “Led Zeppelin”. Pubblicato nel 1971, questa canzone è il primo singolo estratto dall’album. I “Led Zeppelin” furono un gruppo musicale britannico nato nel 1968, considerato tra i grandi innovatori del rock e tra i principali pionieri dell’hard rock. Il gruppo, scioltosi nel 1980, anno della morte del batterista, fu composto per l’intero periodo della sua attività da Jimmy Page(chitarre), Robert Plant(voce, armonica), John Paul Jones(basso, tastiere) e John Bonham(batteria, percussioni). Sin dalla sua pubblicazione, “Led Zeppelin IV” è risultato essere uno degli album di maggior successo della storia, con oltre 23 milioni di copie vendute nei soli Stati Uniti, dove ha totalizzato 260 settimane in classifica. È stato stimato che nel mondo l’album abbia venduto più di 30 milioni di copie. Secondo la sociologa musicale Deena Weinstein “Black Dog” è uno dei brani più riconoscibili tra quelli del gruppo.
