“Basket Case” è la traccia numero 7 di “Dookie”, terzo album del gruppo “Green Day”. Uscito nel 1994, questa canzone è il terzo singolo dell’album. I Green Day sono un gruppo musicale pop punk statunitense, formatosi a Berkeley nel 1987 e composto da quattro membri: Billie Joe Armstrong(chitarra e voce), Mike Dirnt(basso e voce secondaria), Tre Cool(batteria) e Jason White(chitarra). Tre Cool sostituì l’originario batterista Al Sobrante nel 1990, il quale abbandonò la band a causa dei suoi impegni nello studio. L’album “Dookie” è diventato un successo commerciale in tutto il mondo, raggiungendo il numero due nella “Billboard 200” degli Stati Uniti e ha scalato le classifiche in sette paesi. Il disco è stato inserito nella “Lista dei 500 migliori album” secondo Rolling Stone, al numero 193. Nel video “Basket Case” appaiono personaggi con delle particolari maschere che sono del tutto uguali a quelle che appaiono nel film “Brazil” indossate dai torturatori.
