“Lady Writer” è la traccia numero 5 di “Communiqué”, secondo album del gruppo “Dire Straits”. Pubblicato nel 1979, questa canzone è il primo singolo estratto dall’album. Il gruppo “Dire Straits” è stato fondato nel 1977 da Mark Knopfler(chitarra, voce e autore), David Knopfler(chitarra), John Illsley(basso) e Pick Withers(batteria). Il gruppo si è sciolto nel 1995, dopo la pubblicazione di “Live at the BBC”, una raccolta di registrazioni dal vivo dei loro primi successi. L’album “Communiqué” ha venduto oltre 7 milioni di copie in tutto il mondo. Nella sola Europa ha venduto 3,6 milioni di copie e negli USA ha conquistato il disco d’oro.
