“Jump” è la traccia numero 2 di “1984”, sesto album del gruppo “Van Halen”. Uscito nel 1984, questa canzone è il primo singolo estratto dall’album. I Van Halen, in origine Mammoths, sono un noto gruppo hard & heavy statunitense originario di Pasadena(California), che prende il nome dal chitarrista Eddie Van Halen e da suo fratello, il batterista Alex Van Halen. La formazione più recente era composta da David Lee Roth(voce), Eddie Van Halen(chitarra, tastiere, cori), Wolfgang Van Halen(basso, cori) e Alex Van Halen(batteria, percussioni). Il 6 ottobre 2020 viene annunciata la morte di Eddie Van Halen dopo una lunga battaglia contro un tumore alla gola diagnosticatogli nel 2000, che portò all’asportazione di parte della lingua e diffusosi nelle ultime 72 ore fino al cervello. “1984” si tratta del disco di maggior successo commerciale del gruppo, con oltre 10 milioni di copie vendute nei soli Stati Uniti. L’album si posizionò al secondo posto della “Billboard 200”, rimanendovi per cinque settimane consecutive dietro solo a “Thriller” di Michael Jackson. “Jump” è una delle canzoni più famose e riconoscibili dei Van Halen ed è l’unico singolo del gruppo ad aver raggiunto il primo posto della Billboard Hot 100, che mantenne per cinque settimane consecutive nel marzo 1984.
